Rob West, CEO

In the recent past, West and his associates have completed three successful sales/acquisitions for Arrowhead businesses and helped two multimillion companies find and hire CEO’s. Prior to founding NorthPointe Strategy Group, West served as the CEO of GPM, Inc. from mid-2012 to 2017. GPM is a $25 million heavy duty industrial pump manufacturer in Duluth MN with over 70 employees.  Before joining GPM, Rob was the founding President and CEO of the Area Partnership for Economic Expansion (APEX) located in Duluth from May 2004 through May of 2012. During that time, he and his team helped create or retain well over 2600 jobs with a payroll estimated at about $140 million. He has enjoyed a long career in business ownership and senior management positions in marketing and manufacturing. Rob has started and sold four businesses over the past 40 years.

His insights into market dynamics and customer relationships have created shareholder value for Fortune 100 companies including General Mills, Medtronic, four divisions of Cargill, Allen Bradley, Coca Cola and many others. He has also worked with many startups including raising well over $30 million in angel money and startup capital.

Rob West is a Certified Exit Planning Advisor having completed the CEPA Masterclass™  West has a master’s degree in business administration from Western Michigan University and was an officer in the United States Army. He holds 12 USA Patents and 4 International Patents. He served for six years as an adjunct faculty member in the graduate program of the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis and also taught at the University of Minnesota Duluth.

He and his wife Mary reside on a 138 acre lake in Northern Minnesota with one fish.
